I completed my Engineering studies and decided to work in electronics industry. However, in the field of electronics, we do not have many jobs out here, in India. And I did not wish to work in the US, although there are many jobs in the Silicon valley.
So I worked with Electronica, Pune - in R&D Dept. But then, I had to do some clerical work. It became a monotonous job.
Besides, being a lady-engineer, I had my own share of challenges.
So I quit the job, to become an Educatotor. However, I also faced here some other hurdles like - lack of opportunities, due to caste reservation, etc.
After such experiences : like being side-lined, I got a great opportunity to attend NASA-Honeywell Space Educators' training!
So this really turned-tables, because I was then teaching Avionics, Principles of Flight, etc. This particular visit to NASA was a game-changer! And after my return to India, I kept on working in this same field..
This invitation from NASA told me that it's a strong indication that I must keep working in Space Education Sector, even if it's a rare branch of engg...
Today, I am a Space Educator, a Science & Technology Communicator and a Researcher.
I mentor and guide youngsters, who take up Astronomy/Cosmology or Space Education.
I'm the Founder of ASTRO-EDU, PUNE - an Academy that promotes and conducts various educational activities like - Technical Lectures, Popular Talks, Star-gazing Events/Camps, Seminars/Workshops and Exhibitions, etc. The major objective being - Science-oriented, and to develop Scientific Leadership among youngsters.
I visited NASA 6 times, and keep learning new stuff everyday.
And I also keep teaching new ideas and concepts to the youngsters. Teaching young kids the art of 'out-of-box' thinking is of profound importance, in today's context. I believe in making a difference to this world through SCIENCE!
What describes my work the best -
I'm on a Noble MISSION - to promote 'SCIENCE' in all it's forms. My main area and inner-scope is INDIA, and I'm a strong science-crusader for the entire humanity, at large.
It's my tenacity that has fetched me success. I never gave up in the past, amd I will I never give up my profession.
And to sum up about myself : "I've not chosen a ready-made path that was created by others; I've created my own path - a Gateway to Space!"
AD ASTRA!
I have been fuelled to do something unique, and Space Technology is a rarely pursued branch of Engineering. So I was motivated to become a Skillpreneur - a Space Educator.
I did my engineering studies in E&TC stream. So I worked in industry as an R&D engineer. But then, my real break came when I was invited by NASA to attend the prestigious NASA-HONEYWELL SPACE Educators' Program.
And after attending this training, I returned back to India with a conviction to popularize Space Science and mentor youngsters who are aspiring to become future space technologists and explorers, etc.
I am a STEM Educator and being able to teach students and guide them in the field of Space engg., is my forte. Above all, the best aspect is being a guide to students, to make - drones, satellites, etc.
I keep meeting the most iconic personalities, and get to know the best people in space technology.
My Academy is working in a very niche and super-specialised area.
To be able to guide and mentor young buzz, makes ASTRO-EDU, PUNE very unique!
